Aaron Smith bags 5 goals
By Martin Hirst.

This was Clactons first away match of the season. Playing Holland both teams could only muster 10 players a side. Clacton started well and had two good chances to take the lead but both shots went wide. Holland had a corner, and in a very crowded box Connor Saville made a very good punch clearance. Aaron and Jazz always looked to be a handful for the Holland defence. On one break Aaron held off two defenders, then laid off the ball to Jazz who put the ball just wide. This woke Holland up, who then had ten minutes of pressure. The defence of Charlie Sambridge, Harris Boston, Jack Morris, Kyle Lewis-Garrod and Ryan Payne all made good tackles and stood up to the challenges Holland asked of them. Clacton came through this period without letting any goals in. A ball was played up to Aaron who out sprinted the defence and rounded the goalie to put the ball into an open net. It was not too long before Aaron doubled his account. With time running out for the first half, a ball was played up to Aaron who took on two defenders and laid off the ball to Jazz who this time beat the goalie with a fine shot to the goalies right. This was a very finely worked goal. So it was 3 - 0 at half time.

Holland started the second half on the attack, and won an early corner. From the corner Darryl used all his height and size to hold down the Holland attacker to concede a penality. With only Connor Saville to beat, Holland hit the post and Clacton cleared the ball. Clacton then started to pass the ball as we know they can, they worked the ball up field to Aaron who held off two defenders then his shot hit the post, from the rebound Kyle then hit the cross bar. The Holland goalie was not to sure of his catching. Clacton put the ball into the Holland area, but instead of catching the ball he headed it out. The ball came straight back into the area and again he headed it. It fell to Aaron who rolled the ball into an open net to complete his hat-trick. Clacton switched off for five minutes and forgot to defend in numbers, and with Holland attacking they had four on two, and eventually they got the ball into the Clacton net.  Darryl Hirst and Edward Holden started to work the ball up field much better in the second half, and Aaron Smith went on to score two more goals to finish with five goals. This was a very good team effort from Connor through to Aaron. Once  again it was nice to see Jack Hazell on the side line supporting his team mates. Only one more match to go Jack.

This season we are going to be offering the supporters a guide to the away ground burger and tea facility. This research will be carried out by Rick Hazell and it will be on a burger rating from 1 burger to 5 burgers.
