With the World Cup (just) over I've come up with some World Cup questions to test how much you remember about the last month. See how many you can get without Googling the answers - those of you with World Cup wallcharts may fair better than others! :D

I'll post the answers some time on Wednesday so you haven't got too long to wait if you can't get the answers. Happy quizzing!

1) Who scored the first goal of the tournament?

2) Which two sides won all 3 of their group games?

3) Which French player was sent home from the tournament?

4) Two teams failed to score at the tournament – who were they?

5) Which team finished the group stage with the record:
W D L F A
1 1 1 1 1

6) Which 2 teams qualified from the group stage without conceding a goal?

7) Which group produced the least goals?

8 ) Which 4 members of the England squad did not make an appearance at the tournament?

9) How many goals did Germany score in the knockout stages?

10) Which Ghanaian player missed the penalty in the last minute of their quarter-final tie with Uruguay?

11) Which player won the FIFA Golden Ball award for Player of the Tournament?

12) Who were the only team who did not lose a game at the 2010 World Cup?

Ossy,

I think you will find that Germany beat england 4-1 in the 2nd round, argentina 4-0 in the quarter finals and lost 1-0 to spain in the semi finals, therefore meaning that germany scored 8 goals in the knockout stages and not the 11 that you have given the answer as.

So as im a clever boy who didnt miss a game lol, i am pleased to tell you that i got all questions correct which unfortunately cannot be said of you, the quizmaster, who got one wrong lolol

Apart from that schoolboy error they were good questions tho and certainly got my few grey cells working overtime.

Did Germany not score three goals against Uruguay too in the 3rd/4th place play off game?

We all know that like the referee the Quizmaster is always right even when he's wrong!

But in this case as Karl has said Germany also scored 3 goals in the 3rd/4th place play off game which brings their tally to 11 and makes me a clever quizmaster Kev! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Ossy, Karl and Baz

The 3rd/4th place play off is not a knockout stage game

Germany were knocked out in the semi finals, hence the word Knocked out, so therefore they only scored 8 goals in the knockout stages.

Thankyou and Goodnight

Ah, but it is a knockout game - the losing semi-finalists go on to play in the 3rd/4th place play off so they can't have been knocked out of the competition because they go onto play another game. I realise this is all just about wording but it's good fun arguing the toss over it with you Kev! :D

Anyway FIFA are on my side - they've included the 3rd/4th place play off in the knockout stage table!

Feel free to argue this one with Mr Blatter Kev but I'll be honest with all the furore over video technology he's probably got bigger fish to fry! :D :D :D :D

Ossy,

As we all know FIFA are right with everything they do, they always do the best they can for the football community and are always listening to the opinions of football managers and players alike so i will have to admit defeat on this one if that is what FIFA are saying, but when FCC get knocked out in the semi finals of a competition next season, i would be interested to know if you class that as being knocked out.

Of course it would be because apart from the world cup, there is no pathetic money makeing exercise like a 3rd/4th place play off in any other competition which is why i made my claims.

As you say tho this has been an interesting debate and i look forward to more of these throughout the season
